	A special trip would be necessary to discover all the natural and cultural richness of the Rif mountains, but an extension of 2 or 3 nights in Chefchaouen after a stay in Fez is a good introduction. While you are in Fez, you can also explore the pre-Rif, an authentic and picturesque rural area located North of Fez between the plain of Saiss and the Al Wahda dam lake. Mount Zalagh, one of the nicest area is just a few minutes away from Fez.

	Hiking : to reach Mount Zalagh you must take the Ouezzane road (left after Palais Jamai). which climbs on the Southern slopes of Mount Zalagh, offering beautiful views on Fez and the Middle Atlas. After a few kilometers driving you reach a small pine forest (on your right) from which starts a track which leads to the summit of Mount Zalagh (900m elavation). It takes around 45mn to reach the top overlooking Fez and offering a spectacular views on the Sebou river valley, the Saiss plain, the Rif mountains and the Middle-Atlas You are in a non-touristic rural area, please respect the quietness of the area.
